Staffing and Recruiting is All in the Details

We recently had a behind the scenes look into a state of the art facility that when up and running will bring an abundance of employment opportunities to Baltimore City. As their trusted staffing and recruiting partner, it was important for us to tour the facility. The attention to detail and quality has far exceeded anything I have ever seen. If you are a lean manufacturing nerd like myself, this will geek you out. The entire facility will be constructed using the most up to date standards of quality, safety, and efficiency. For example, the automated garage door moves quickly and will stop on a dime instead of injuring a person. I know you have to be asking yourself why this guy is going on and on about a garage door, but you really have to see it to believe it’s capabilities. And why am I telling you this?

“Details matter, it’s worth waiting to get it right.” – Steve Jobs

I was reminded recently of the importance of details. We have been working on two new contracts that require us to mass-produce talent at a ridiculously fast pace. Now, it helps that we have experience staffing at this speed, but that was in the pre COVID environment and without all of the obstacles it presents. The effort required to produce the number of quality candidates has increased. Staffing during the pandemic has required:

  • More ads
  • More candidate contact
  • More internal interviews
  • More screening
  • More submittals
  • More external interviews
  • MORE everything

All of those things equate to more resources, including the most valuable resource, time. When you are limited on time, it becomes more appealing to cut corners. Not me. Not us. It would have been difficult to establish a trusted reputation if we had cut corners over the past 40 years. Instead, we have used this time to embrace the details. It is one of the qualities that set us apart from our competitors and paved the way for our success.

For me, Steve Jobs is the measurement of quality. Jobs was a master motivator who pushed his team past the boundaries of their idea of excellence. He accomplished that by making no detail too small. We have that shared mentality at Kennedy Services. Every detail of the candidate experience has been closely examined to ensure ease and effectiveness. We understand that some people do not have access to personal computers or home internet, so all of our recruiting processes can be completed using a cellular device. That ability allows us to reach MORE candidates who are much needed right now.

“There is a tremendous amount of craftsmanship between a great idea and a great product.” – Steve Jobs

This all creates a better experience for our business partners as we put the best candidates in front of them. But we don’t stop there when it comes to the details of their experiences. The Kennedy team understands that your staffing problems don’t just happen during typical business hours, and sometimes they require immediate attention. We have set up processes so our clients can reach us anywhere and at any time. Just like the candidate experience, companies can also approve employee time with a touch of the phone.

“Be a yardstick of quality. Some people aren’t used to an environment where excellence is expected.” – Steve Jobs

Those are just a few of the details we concern ourselves with today. But quality is a mindset, which means that we are not complacent about where we are currently. We will continue working on raising the bar of what you should expect from your staffing partner. 40 years of quality is in our DNA.
